Questions

Do I need a referral?

No! You can directly establish physical therapy care in the state of Wisconsin without an outside referral. We will refer you to the appropriate provider should your needs be outside of our scope of practice.

I thought i needed to be injured to see a physical therapist...?

We get that a lot. Physical therapy is for rehabilitating injuries, improving pain, treating “pinched” nerves/numbness/tingling, improving movements for daily life/sport/recreational performance, preventing injuries, aging well… the list goes on! Our holistic practice centers on helping you identify all of the factors that might be causing pain or a reduction in how your body functions, teaching you how to understand and move best for your body, and provide tools that result in sustainable positive outcomes.

Should I schedule the discovery session or comprehensive wellness assessment (CWA) first?

If you are unsure if we are a good fit for you and your needs based on what you see here on our website, or are just a little tentative to fully dive in, the discovery session is the best place to start. NOTE: The discovery session does not include physical evaluation or treatment. If you know you want to work with us and are ready to get started, you can schedule your CWA where we will spend 90-minutes doing a full assessment on health history, nutrition, sleep, stress, relationships/social support, and more, plus the physical assessment. Treatment is usually not provided during the first session due to time constraints.

what should i wear to my sessions?

Most of all, wear what you are comfortable in! Here are some recommendations based on your comfort level:

  • Wear something you can move in and that allows us to see your body parts of concern

  • We may ask you to remove your shirt (as comfortable) to clearly see your spine during the CWA (regardless of your reason for coming in), so a sports bra or camisole is recommended for ladies.

  • Loose fitting clothing makes assessment difficult.

  • Shorts are recommended for lower body concerns.

how do i know if I need physical therapy or health coaching?

We recommend setting up a discovery session to help guide you in this decision!

Our holistic physical therapy services integrate coaching (that’s why we call it holistic!), but a discovery session can help determine if you need holistic PT or just health coaching without the physical therapy side of things.

We also have a blog all about Health Coaching to help clarify the difference.

Do you take my insurance?

We are out of network with all insurance providers. You can request a superbill (a coded receipt) that you can submit independently for out-of-network reimbursement for physical therapy and dry needling services. We will not communicate with insurance providers for you. Health coaching does not qualify for superbills.

We have made this decision in order to offer our clients the best possible care without restrictions from insurance companies, as well as to reimburse our therapists fair wages to reflect their level of expertise and support their families. Thank you for your understanding.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

All health coaching is done virtually.

Physical therapy is in-person, but we are able to treat anyone in the state of Wisconsin virtually. If you’d like to establish virtual physical therapy care, we recommend starting with a virtual discovery session to discuss your circumstances and plan of care before getting started.

Do you offer in-home physical therapy?

We do offer this on a case-by-case basis within 5-10 minutes of drive time from our clinic location. Please contact us to discuss.
