Neck Pain, Back Pain, Shoulder Pain: Holistic Physical Therapy for Lasting Relief in Lake Country, Wisconsin
Written by: Dr. Hannah Scherbarth, PT, DPT
Nagging neck pain – you just “slept wrong” one night, and it hasn't fully recovered, no matter how much heat, massage, and stretching you've tried.
A stabbing pain behind your shoulder blade that, no matter how much you dig in with your massage gun or tennis ball, "hurts so good" but never really goes away.
Low back pain that comes and goes, and even though you've done physical therapy for it, it just doesn't seem to ever get back to 100%.
We see these types of “injuries” all the time. Many times, our clients have pain like this for months or even years. They've sought advice from their primary care provider, been referred to specialists, completed traditional physical therapy, and maybe even had surgery, only to realize that whatever relief they've been able to find only lasts so long.
By the time they make their way to us, they are frustrated, exhausted, angry, and still in so much pain that they feel there is no hope of ever returning to their pre-pain state.
This is where New Heights Physical Therapy comes in, and what makes us unique.
We aren't your traditional physical therapy. We are holistic physical therapy, truly focused on an individualized approach to healing your pain.
We listen to your entire story from beginning to end, sometimes digging deeper into parts that you didn't think were relevant. We connect the pieces that have not yet been connected because of the disjointed medical care you've received due to our fragmented “health” care system. Even if your specialists provided excellent care, they aren't communicating with each other, and that means pieces of your story are missing.
We will illuminate your story from an outside perspective so that we can offer you objective and honest feedback and recommendations for your healing process.
We understand that pain is multifaceted. Although you may come to us to help you with physical pain that appears to have a physical origin, we will ensure that every aspect that contributes to your pain is addressed.
This includes a thorough review of your health and lifestyle factors that affect your experience of pain:
Pain and injury history
Medical history
Sleep habits
Nutritional habits
Life stressors (good and bad)
Relationships and connection to others
Spirituality
Mindfulness
If you've done physical therapy before and you're skeptical about trying again,
trust us – this is different!
What you won't get at New Heights Physical Therapy:
A growing list of exercises that starts to take up what feels like your entire day.
Sessions where you go through your home exercises for the entire session and leave thinking, “I could have done that on my own.”
Workouts with heavy weights and big machines. We aren’t a gym, and your recovery will be aligned with types of exercise that excite you.
Basic exercises that aren't functional at all. (I’m looking at you, clamshells and shoulder pulleys.)
Multiple sessions with zero change. We're not going to say, “It'll just take some time and consistency with the exercises to notice you're feeling better.” While that is true, if you aren’t experiencing changes within our sessions, we either are missing something or we need to refer you to a different type of provider.
What you can expect at New Heights Physical Therapy:
Mindful exercises you can seamlessly integrate into your day in small doses.
Sessions that progress and build on each other, so you know you're making progress each time you leave.
Retraining neuromuscular movement patterns (better body mechanics) to build a physical foundation that allows you to work out where, when, and with whomever you want.
Functional movements that will translate to your daily life and physical activities of choice.
Change within the first 1-6 sessions (with rare exceptions). We tell every single client this: “If we aren't seeing change in the first few sessions, we will help you find the right next step.”
While we may not be able to help you eliminate all pain (I wish we were otherworldly, but we are, in fact, human), you can expect to gain a toolbox full of mental and physical tools you need to understand and manage your pain, so that your pain no longer dominates your life.
Don’t take it from us… Hear it from our clients:
“I’ve been a client since July, and it has changed my life. Getting guidance on how to effectively fuel my body with the right foods, sleep, exercise, and mindfulness has made me happier, healthier, and more energetic. So grateful to Megan for all her support and guidance!” - NHPT Google Review
